Jasper Apartments Officially Opens Tomorrow, July 10th

“We are impressed with how well Jasper has been received, but not necessarily surprised, since a lot of people are starting to discover the wonders of Wedgwood and this is the first new luxury product the neighborhood has seen in a long time.”

Nice words from Steve Orser with Wood Partners, the developer of the Jasper apartment building, on the Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch website today.  According to the article, tomorrow will be the official opening of the new apartment building which is nearly 50 percent pre-leased.

You can see photos from our tour of the Jasper from the end of May here.

Jasper Apartments – April Update

We haven’t posted an update on the Jasper Apartments since February, shortly after the name was released.  A lot has happened since then though.  There are sidewalks along NE 86th and 87th Street!   The Jasper also has a temporary leasing office along NE 86th Street, a new website, and a Facebook page!

Wedgwood Apartments – December Update

The Wedgwood Apartments project continues to unfold before our eyes at a seemingly rapid pace.  Turns out, it’s all according to plan.  According to the project superintendent at Exxel Pacific, the project is still on schedule for a July 2012 completion.  As for the name of the project, the owner still hasn’t settled on a name for Wedgwood’s newest apartment building.  This begs the question (even though Wood Partners didn’t ask it), what would you name it?

A Photosynth of the project can be found below (requires the Microsoft Silverlight plugin).

Wedgwood Apartments – November Update

I’ve gotten a bit off of my quasi-monthly schedule of providing photo updates on the former JCC site/Wedgwood Apartments redevelopment.  Nevertheless, this is what I’m calling a November update.

The external structure of the building is nearly complete with most of the 4 stories framed and sheeted.  Residents in the neighborhood and passer-byers can now get a feel for the finished size and scale of the building.  This is Wedgwood’s first mixed-use residential building.  Now that the building is beginning to take its final form, we’d love to hear your thoughts of the building.  Please share your thoughts in the Comment Section below.

A couple of important things to remember about the building:

  • The building will not always be as yellow as it is now.
  • There will be NO “retail” in the building, only “live work” units.
  • The building will be apartments, not condos.

For a virtual tour of the site, check out our PhotoSynth below. (requires Microsoft Silverlight to view)

As of December 4th:

Pre-Demo:

Previous updates can be found for September, August, July, and June.  Also, HERE is the link to the Wedgwood Action Group’s (WAG’s) blog.  WAG is a community group which is not associated with the WCC and which was/is opposed to the Wedgwood Apartment’s project.

Wedgwood Apartments August Update

The crew at Exxel Pacific seem to be making good progress on Wood Partner’s first project in the Seattle area, located in our beautiful little neighborhood. See the progress that’s been made over the past month below:

Wedgwood Apartments Beginning to Take Shape

The Wedgwood Apartments being constructed at the former site of the Jewish Community Center (JCC) site along 35th Avenue NE, between NE 86th Street and NE 87th Street, is beginning to take shape. We’ve prepared a virtual tour of the site for those that want to follow project’s progress from your home or office.

The JCC building has been demolished

To make way for the Wood Partner’s mixed-use development, one thing had to happen.  The JCC had to be demolished.  Residents and businesses were made aware of Exxel Pacific’s schedule last week.  So, in the hopes of documenting construction of Wedgwood’s first mixed-use building and Wood Partner’s first project in Washington State, I thought I’d try something slightly different. It didn’t work perfectly, but I think it’s sort of fun to look at (requires Microsoft Silverlight).

The JCC’s Final Hours on May 31st.

The Walls Came Tumbling Down.

These didn’t work perfectly, but I’ll try to create more ‘synths’ as the project goes along to capture it’s progress.

Let me know what you think!
